actually looking forward to an album from LoG is refreshing. Singles sounded good, getting Ashes vibes. Hoping for the best expecting the worst

Damn, this site has overhyped the hell out of this. My thoughts after a listen: title track is probably the best song, "The Killing Floor" and "Bully" have some cool stuff, I was waiting for "El Vacio" and "A Thousand Years" to end, and it's bananas to invoke their classic albums here. This isn't even better than Sacrament.

I mean I’m not really huge on sacrament, I thought that was a weak rehash of what they already did plus some poor pantera imitations (and pantera is one of my all time favorite bands)

This doesn’t have that imo and almost every song has a really heavy mosh/headbang section which is more than I can say for any album of theirs since ashes imo

But yeah, palaces and ashes are both like an 11/10 for me so nothing is ever beating those for me

"Damn, shattering my hopes before I even dive in"

It seems so far I'm in the minority, so

I think in a broad look, yeah it has more headbanging, but I guess when I think of LoG they've been more than just straightforward chugging and breakdowns and 230bpm kick drums. They had those elements, but they did more than that. This sounds like mostly that (I'll listen again, of course).

Other than Walk With Me In Hell, Sacrament was where I completely started falling off from this band. I almost never go back to anything after the first 3 albums

Sacrament was the last album I listened to regularly, there are 2 maybe even 3 of their albums I haven't listened to at all. I just moved on to other music in general at that time. Sac has a couple songs I would put in their pantheon. Nothing I heard on this is better than those.

Wrath actually has one of my favorite LoG songs (Contractor) but I never even listened to much of that. What's that one other decent song on there, "Set to Fail"
