I really wanted to love this but it just felt pleasant the whole way through and nothing gripped me. Shame

This release has let me reappraise Asymmetry, and I appreciate that record more now.

Man I wish they would bring back that breakdown in the intro of "ghost" later in the track ... one of my absolute FAVOURITE 20 seconds of music ever

Yes Ghost is a bit underrated I feel.

And Asymmetry needs more love

I've been slow to come around on this one, but man my love for this is growing quickly now .. I still feel that the first half of the album is too packed with bangers that the second half can drag very occasionally.

Just the whole thing really, album was a bit of a grower but about 5 listens in it really has me. Salva has been my least replayed song indeed but I get it too.. they managed to make the bagpipes actually work which is an achievement on its own

Going to see them next month and I've only ever listened to half of one of their albums. Whats the best way to get into them? Start at the start and just go for it? Or is there a must hear album that i should do first?

Relatively new fan here - IMO you can go chronological. One exception is maybe to save asymmetry for last. It's a challenging record with some weird time signatures and so on, it's deeper and harder to get into than the rest.

do chronological, if it works then great, otherwise focus on Awake and this one

Opal is a funny one. People either consider it one of the worst songs on the album or one of the best. To me it’s one of the worst but that just shows how strong this album is because it’s still a great track. The ‘quiet like death is around’ riff hits so hard. I just wish that part kept going or changed to something heavier instead of going back to the softer, melodic sound.

Regarding Asymmetry, I still have a soft spot for it and think it’s a good album but when I listen to In verses I’m struck with how many of these songs sound like much superior versions of asymmetry songs. Reanimation is a better Aeons, Salva is a better Aloha Omega, Remote Self Control is a better The Refusal, Conversations is a better Sky Machine. Plus with it being the only album not produced by forrester, it does kind of stick out now.
