its so hard to talk about this band without mentioning deafheaven. not necassarly because they ripped them off or anything, but they employ so many of the same influences and share so much sonic dna. basically if you like deafheaven you should enjoy this for similar reasons, and if you don't, you won't.
listening to this with a good pair of headphones, the mix can be sound quite thin when things get noisey. drums and rhytm guitars have no flavour. leads sound great when they cut throught the fuzz or are doing the quieter shoegazey parts. clean vocals are not good but rarely detract from things, apart from the odd occasion where they get kinda buttrocky. a few goes round on it im feeling its good but nothing out of this world. 'Young' and 'Favour' are my favs

its kinda like course correction. whenever something gets over-hyped straight out the gate, some people are gonna be overly negative in response - the sentiment will probs even out after a period. the albums only been out a week, not really enough time to gauge how much staying power it has

This is their best by far imo, even though the other two are also great. This one is just more dynamic. It's only the beginning of Feb but def will be a AOTY contender. This would be up there with Callous Daoboys, Deafheaven, Deftones and Coroner for me if this was last year.

I don't think it'll level out much - the dissatisfaction for the most part seems proportionate to prior familiarity, and unmet expectations can be pretty unforgiving.
