it sounds like the same tempo to me. I was hoping for a mechanix/four horseman dynamic

It is a little bit faster but yeah that’s closer to what I was expecting.
|
| |
I feel you, could have been even faster for some more flair.
I think the modern more pristine production is a cool differentiator even if the old one captured a cooler atmosphere.
I just dont know why people are hung up on it. Its a bonus track of Dave covering a song he helped craft 40+ years ago. Neat idea, that could have been cooler and further differentiated.

Yeah agreed for the most part. I think beyond modern though production is still kinda wonky or undercooked but again its a bonus track. Plus i kinda hate the overdone modern style so it actually lends character to it. And yeah if it helps Dave close the book good for him I guess

RTL may be my favorite ever Metallica song but here it's totally unnecessary for many reasons-
The Last Note was a perfectly acceptable farewell track
It's not very different to the original and his voice sounds shot
It gives the last word to Metallica and too much respect. Ffs he was in that band for just over 12 months. First gig was April 1982 and he got booted in April 1983. Also how much of that song did he actually write. The opening riff yes but how much else

Absolutely awful album agreed everyone.

Still enjoyable as it's Megadeth. But the last 2 have been short on quality imo. And made me go back and appreciate their lower rated albums in their discog

I’m thrilled that he got kicked out of Metallica

The more I listen to the cover the worse it gets. Like a mockery towards the original. Mainly because of Dave and the production of course.

Yeah, the vocals are just really rough and I kinda hate the guitar tone, the drumming is honestly very tasteful but it sounds like he’s beating plastic
It all could’ve been saved if they did some wild shit with the solos, like hangar 18 style trade offs… Dave didn’t write that solo right? Like, without knowing anything it just doesn’t sound like something he’d write.

I think he has said that he actually wrote it but who can trust him really lol. To me it sounds more like a Kirk solo than a Dave solo.

Yeah like a lot more imo, I don’t listen to a ton of early megadeth but he does not have any solos that sound like that to me

It is a Kirk solo as far as I know, Dave was for the riffs

Mechanix was a proper Megadeth version of an original Metallica song, RTL was just Metallica with an extra Megadeth solo

Dave is claiming RTL is "his song" even though he only contributed to writing one riff, perhaps two at most, and he was not around for the arranging of the song. idk man

He’s taking ‘tallica for a ride more like amirite
I’ve only listened to the cover twice, I prefer the album stopping on The Last Note and I’ll go as far as saying there’s an element of cringe to that cover.

so it's not a great song and is a bonus track for a reason.....i do the same Doof, change what I'm listening to after The Last Note

That’s a legit good song and a good way to close everything out… just wish I liked the rest of the album as much

Tipping Point, Puppet Parade, and The Last Note were my anchors here, properly spaced apart. Everything in between grew on me the more I listened.
