anything, Major/Minor is incredibly overrated. It was the proper start of dad rock Thrice, actually. I like it, so don’t get me wrong, but it was a massive step down from Beggars imo
Nah, I fucking love it. Liked it from the outset but probably only a 3.5, but it continued to grow on me. Think I even had it rated at a 5 for a bit, now I think I have it at a 4.5, which is more accurate.
Beggars is great too, I’d give it a 4. But M/M is a little better imo.

Anthology is certainly one of their best songs, agreed.

spot on bananatossing, the link between MM and TBEITBW is evident, with the latter picking things up exactly where they were left off.
I mean the progression from MM to TBEITBW is actually quite sound, but I too prefer Beggars

I cant remember a single dang song from MM

Anthology is for sure the best song on M/M and one of their best songs period. The rest of the album is good, but that one really stands out.

The Amulets remix of Robot Soft Exorcism is one of the best things to come from this band in recent years. Feels like I’m traveling through space whenever I listen to it

Still need to check this out, last album was kinda boring not gonna lie. It didn't do anything for me.

Just built the sowing playlist to try it out. I included the 6 LelandAB tracks that didnt make sowings list at the end if I want to hear more East after giving the other a whirl.

Not having Soft Robot on this is a crime

Holy shit. Dustin's falsetto in Vesper Light just threw me for a LOOP. Doing a Thom Yorke impression wasn't on my bingo card for Thrice.

Oh yeah, that was peak. I hope he does it again on their next work.

probably best since MM, or at least on part with TBEITBN
|

Album Rating: 3.5
I don't get the appeal for TBEITBN, it's MM but more radio-friendly. The last 4 tracks are also a chore IMO. Stay with me is yuk
|
| |
I don't recall liking TBEITBN at all. I didn't care for East much and I completely skipped Palms...
West is sounding really strong though on first listen.
|
| |
I think my top tracks on East (Summer Set Fire to the Rain, Dandelion Wine, maybe 1 or 2 others) top anything off this, but I think the entirety of this is better than anything else of East.
Nice writeup, Sowing.

I feel like the album wasn't cohesive for me. It isn't till Distant suns that I feel the songs start flowing till the end of the album.

@entwizard I felt exactly the same which is why I think the album flows better if you put "Distant Suns" way up in the tracklist
1. Blackout
2.Gnash
3. Albatross
4. Crooked Shadows
5. Distant Suns
6. Undertow
7. Holding On
8. Dusk
9. The Dark Glow
10. Vesper Light
11. Unitive/West

M/M also has Call it in the Air and Words in the Water. I just think it’s a
Really fucking consistent album through and through, though Yellow Belly is a pretty meh opening track.
