lmfao that 'three girl song' being song of the year is insane. Such an uninspired piece of music

It's almost like they award the most popular music.

Once you reach a certain level of success it seems to be just a ripple effect after that tbh
|

Sadly it does. Anyone got examples of bands that got huge (not one-hit wonders) that still faded into obscurity?

“lmfao that 'three girl song' being song of the year is insane. Such an uninspired piece of music”

I mean, I guess that was almost Deftones? Pre Covid they weren’t selling out the clubs I was seeing them in, now they’re selling out arenas.

Damn I always thought they were one of the biggest metal bands. Didn't they have a lot of success early in their career?
|
| |
I guess Deftones are still inevitable though. Anyone else got examples? Drawing a blank here. I guess I also don't know the 'huge' artists well enough

Oh yeah they were huge, but I feel like they steadily started to fall off after the self titled, then they randomly blew up on tik tok and now they’re more popular than theyve ever been. It’s crazy that they’re hotter now than they were in their “prime”
|

Deftones? They were flying high with diamond eyes and Koi too. Hit a little lull through Gore and Ohms. Then caught fire with PM.
P.s. sleep token sucks!

Maybe critically but i promise you man they were playing way smaller venues around that time.

Revolver named this the metal record of the year, its annoying because theres so many releasea from this year that have been incredible.
Atp vessel could record the nastiest sloppiest shit put it out as a single and theyd win a grammy for it, magazines would froth over it at this point.

been staying off facebook because the other day I saw a viral post that just said "hot people listen to Sleep Token" like I don't interact with this band at all except through here, why is facebook shoving them in my face out of no where

I mean there’s a lot of hot women that like this band, tbh I’d rather hang out with a bunch of sweaty nerds at some death metal show than pretending to like this dogshit for pussy.
I hate getting older but tbh im happy to say thats how i feel, 5 years ago me would absolutely pretend to like this trash to get laid
Is maturing realizing that I should be myself even if myself is a childish asshole when it comes to music? Idk maybe I’ll rant about it in another 5 years

Anyways, real AOTY is the Tropical Fuck Storm record, you’re welcome everybody.
Deftones makes sense as Artist of the Year, Song of the Year is Winona by Deafheaven, best live act… tbh im cool with Ghost taking that too, idk how some of yall personally feel about them but their live shows are consistently entertaining and usually one of the highlights of the year for me. Just nothing but good vibes and a lil bit of blasphemy.
“Underground” pick for best live band is Blood Incantation

last few years have been awful for me to even attempt to see a band live so I don't really have an opinion on that, glad everyone else has been able to see shows though
