Sunbather has nostalgia and my own personal black metal infancy working for it in a way that this doesn't, but this does have some intense moments of beauty. Really glad that they've come back to this sound. I literally just never felt like listening to IG in full or even half, the idea of a Deafheaven album with all cleans did not appeal to me.

i honestly like new bermuda more than sunbather and that's not an attempt at "contrarianism" it's that the blend of influences on there appeal to me more, the darker-ish tone, the post-punk drums on the closer stand out as well as the entirety of baby blue.

i just might, the only thing stopping me is there are some moments on OCHL that, while not bad, don't register as strongly to me as its peaks (you without end IS a peak to me sorry guys), and i feel weird giving more than three full lengths from any one band 5 stars
