Will probably bump this to a 4 in due time. It's more of a 3.7 for me right now. The Calm That Keeps You Awake is going to be yucky live if they play it when I see them this month.

for some reason I always associate this band with people who wear backwards hats
But is this actually good?

I was introduced to these guys with A Different Shade of Blue and I really enjoyed it. To me, A Tear in the Fabric of Life and the Upon Loss singles were clearly a cut above and were both excellent. When I heard the singles for this new album, I loved all of them. Now that I've listened to the whole album, I'm just not sure. Like, I saw the 27 minute runtime and thought it was short, but after listening to the album it actually feels kind of long.
I guess the realization I'm coming to is that Knocked Loose excels at 10-20 minutes of music. If they go too long, it starts feeling a bit same-y. I could see this coming down to a 3.5 for me.

Hell yes bro lmao
5 listens into this and I can comfortably say Piece By Piece, Calm, and Sit & Mourn are the best deep cuts. Honestly tho through it all Blinding Faith might still be my number one. That ending breakdown is the most disgusting thing I've ever heard

I’m probably in the minority but I think the back half of this absolutely destroys the first and I like the first lol. Piece by Piece or moss/take me home combo are probably my least favorite moments on the album and that’s mainly just cause the rest of the album does what those do but better
Sit & Mourn is incredible. The Thirst kick off had me in shambles

Part of me feels like they just absolutely nailed picking the singles off this album. The 3 singles are so fucking good whereas the remaining songs are kind of a mixed bag.

I can’t stand these vocals and I listen to black metal so that’s saying something.

album is great but a slight letdown. It doesn’t top Tear or Upon Loss, but it tries. I think the singles were so strong that the album couldn’t quite live up to the hype. It came pretty close though.

I agree that oddly the runtime felt long. They’d really excel at straight EPs lol

Run time felt kinda long yet the songs felt too short... Except for Sit and Don't Reach. EPs seem like the way to go yeah
