I gotta return to this. Just jammed the debut and loved it (which means I love all 3 of her others) so I'm very intent on getting this one to click.

Yeah nice. Honestly, I think this is cut above everything she’s done to date. Admittedly, I only went backwards after getting into this but I spent a fair amount of time with her back catalogue and Songs was a step-up, but this even more so

Seeing her tomorrow night in Chicago and trying to lookup the setlist and it seems to be (slightly) different in every city??

Sadness as a Gift is an easy highlight yep, that/Fool/Free Treasure are the tracks I'd go back to here

I really really like this album but I don't listen to it as much as I should - mostly because 'Real House' as an opener creates a bit of a weird flow imo

I don't normally get hung up on this kind of stuff but I have a hard time with the incredibly sparse piano arrangement. It's beautiful but it feels sooo intimate - I have to be in a particular mindset to be open to it

I prefer the fingerpicked version she performs live - the fast and steady picking under the slow melody is almost hypnotic

stop it. Real House is one of—if not, the—best track here.

yeah, Real House is a real one

Free Treasure / Vampire Empire is peak

whole first half is superb really (Sadness is top 4). I love the closer also, but cannot deny the second half is weaker overall

The only good thing that can be said about the 6 minutes of boredom that is Real House is that it can't kill any momentum as it's the first song.
