Yeah I agree a bit short. But that’s kind of a good thing. No fat to trim. Efficient and lean

Its a huge grower, srsly.

admittedly, I liked this a lot more yesterday in the car. I guess the whole thing just kinda needs a wall of rumble in the background

Think I marginally prefer the previous album.
'Skin in the Game' is my favourite here.

"Andalusia" made the bigger impression on me of the bunch tbh

Yeah, great atmosphere with that track.
Guess it's referring to the John Cale song.

Andalucia is amazing. Skin in the Game was a song I actually detested as a single. But once I was turned in, pure auditory heaven. I would actually say it’s one of their best songs, especially with the swell of the second verse. Just amazing.
It’s quite amazing how that song can go from completely hated by me to a crown jewel of their discography. I can’t explain it. But I think it’s the placement. By that point anything they sent my way would make me drool. Outside of context it kinda sucks. But inside of it, it’s like a fuzzy warm cashmere blanket
It’s a moment I completely regret. I said that was the moment Slowdive were completely dead. But ironically, now, I find it their most lush and alive. Just a bad take by myself that I take back.

'Skin in the Game was a song I actually detested as a single.'
I really try and avoid most pre release singles these days - tends to give me weird expectations of what an album will be in advance.
I wouldn't want ten versions of 'Skin in the Game' in a row to make up this album but like you said, in this context it stands out and is refreshing/comforting, album needs some directness in there.

yeah, OPN dropped his pathos trip string-attack somewhat corny *closer* as a lead single the other day and, like, fucking why dude
(answer = to pander to the sappy [indie] pop crowd he's spent the last couple of years producing for, but still)

finally have listened to this like 10 times
idk y’all this smokes the last album for me and it’s really not even close. shanty, the slab, anadulcia are all very good. i’ll probably get to a point where i skip Kisses but i like it more in context of the album. least favorite song is prob prayer remembered but i respect them for making it track 2 and for its purpose to me being kinda slowin the vibe down for what is mostly the rest of the album

First three songs were sublime when I listened the other day. Excited to jam the rest this week. Seems like they're hitting the genre they created
