Yeah they crashed the streaming site with all the traffic 😂

I ended up hearing both songs though, and they're both absolute bangers.

Better Days has major Paper Walls vibes, as mentioned before. The guitar tone gives me flashbacks to Date Line.

Take What You Want seems kinda paint by numbers to me but I'm excited to hear the full thing

TWYW feels like it has a ton of blink-182 influence. Not sure how I feel about that because YC has its own sound. However, I can't deny it's a bop. Almost danceable in a sense.

Better Days is just vintage YC. The chorus is ridiculously infectious and the high note he hits is unreal. Almost reminds me of a more grown up 'Only One'.

Travis is drumming on this album so that might explain the Blink influence haha

I'd have preferred a Parsons reunion, but if Barker can bring PW/WYTTSY/SA energy to the new album, then I'm still excited.

I'm still not sure what happened with LP....intermittently i've seen reddit comments over the years alleging that he "stole money from the band".....idk if the absence of a definitive counter to that is good enough reason to believe that's what happened....in any case, as much as Childhood Eyes fared perfectly without him (and their live shows with Jimmy have been fucking awesome), LP simply brought a singular element to the band that they've sorely lacked

Southern Air was *the* best YC lineup because all the most essential members at every position were there (Key, Sean, Josh, LP, Mendez)

i'm fine with barkboi on drums, it's mostly his production that i'm worried about.. haven't heard the man produce a single thing that didn't feel deeply artificial and lifeless :[

buuut at least it gives me a nice scapegoat that isn't yellowcard if i don't fw the new album lmao

I was always a big Neal Avron fan so Barker truly has a lot to live up to

I hope Avron is still involved. IIRC he's an "exec producer" on Childhood Eyes which at least gives the illusion that he had anything to do with the EP being as fantastic as it was. Same effect would apply this time around. I trust YC's judgment (Key and Mendez can do everything from their home studios at this point) but YC's continuity is one of their greatest strengths and i get uneasy if too many familiar variables (see LP) get taken out of the mix

and i co-sign what Jesper said 110%, if the album isn't spectacular, I blame Bark before i blame YC lmao

decent expectations for the new album. I'm worried about the ramifications of their third "swing and miss" album if it doesn't fare well commercially. we just got them back. And this seems to be quite an all in approach for them.

I mean, Childhood Eyes didn't chart and they're not signed to a major label. That their last few albums cracked the top 30 of the Billboard 200 (including #10 for Southern Air) honestly is remarkable. I'd hope they don't get discouraged if whatever they do doesn't sell like OA did, especially since Key has been pretty open that he looks at things through a much more grateful lens. I'm sure they recognize they have a large and dedicated fanbase that will always be there, and i hope that alleviates whatever disappointment they might have

Love the vibe. Def brings back some of the LP charm. However, that mix was trash lol. I’ll withhold judgement since it’s tiktok but yeah
