uh oh runner up to sputnik popularity contest in the hot seat
btw i listened to the two songs you suggested "different kind" and "xoxoxo" and yeah they're pretty damn seamless. unfortunate they couldnt keep that up for an album but i guess thats tough when you have a different feature on every song

"Based but marble brain centrism disguised as a 3rd graders understanding of "logic" tends to be 90% of those ppls personality so"
True.
@someone: Well, I mean this is quite a political album so I don't think it's too far off that there are some political discussions going on in this thread and Idk how long you've been on Sput but a lot of threads are just trash talking and not strictly discussing albums.
BUT: I still am not sure whether I like the lack of a drummer and I don't see why there couldn't be a session drummer.

Wait, they’re a metal band without a live drummer?? Wtf I get it with an electronic band but not metal
|
| |
bootlicker? my thinking is the one that's against the grain. not your generic ass "ohhh discrimination is wrong. look how progressive i am"

What a fuckin thread man wow

1) hoes in this thread are really mad that transphobes get dunked on
2) honestly they do good w/o a drummer. the stack of amps + jennas stage presence make up for it
3) seeing them live in two weeks...pog and swag

the thing i dont like about no drummer is it kinda kills the point of a live performance where you are watching an organism that has to stay on time with everything and the improvisational quality that it can bring. just makes it one step closer to a studio version which kinda goes against the whole point

Linkin Park had drums

Hi, non-binary person checking in here to let you know that if telling a person they should kill themselves is your idea of dunking on someone, you need therapy
|

transphobes should kill themselves tho, but ok

Hi, I'm also non-binary & I think y'all are still lacking some nuance. Do you really expect marginalised people to take shit from everyone and then turn the other cheek all the time?
People who are direct contributors to the discrimination a marginalised group faces deserve some (sometimes harsh) backlash. It's one of the literal reasons a lot of "us" are dying.

Look, I hear you, but your rhetoric is what lacks nuance.
“Do you really expect marginalised people to take shit from everyone and then turn the other cheek all the time?”
1.) Turning the other cheek and telling someone to commit suicide are two polar extremes.
2.) Cyber bullying of this kind can’t and should not be justified. Two wrongs do not make a right.
“People who are direct contributors to the discrimination a marginalised group faces deserve some (sometimes harsh) backlash. It's one of the literal reasons a lot of "us" are dying.”
3.) Gyro’s belief that gender is binary and that trans people aren’t worthy of the same treatment as cis people is not a “direct contributor” to anything except his own poor self-image. This idea that someone having a different opinion is tantamount to murdering other people has *got* to go. You can’t just link idiotic transphobic sput comments to the statistical likelihood of violent victimization of trans people. They’re obviously not *unrelated* completely but posing them as directly linked in this situation is a bad faith argument. As far as I know, there is no conclusive research directly linking levels of hate speech on the internet in an area/state to violent crimes against trans people in that area/state. You’re welcome to provide links to research that prove otherwise, I haven’t been able to find any so far. By all means, punch a nazi or transphobe who’s getting in your face or threatening you. But smack talk on sputnikmusic.com? Really? This is your vision of an LGBT politic?

Agreed. Hostility towards the other side has no utility aside from catharsis so is really just selfish and counterproductive. (But of course completely understandable in certain circumstances)
|
| |
Not sure how that’s your takeaway from what i wrote up there but ok. I guess it’s cool you acknowledge that it’s understandable for people to feel emotional about this stuff but your statement is pretty sweeping otherwise, i don’t agree that hostility never has utility aside from catharsis

just wanna say melt-banana use a drum machine live and they are one of the best most energetic live acts you'll ever see in your life, so there's no real necessity to have a human drummer, but it does require a certain vibe to work well. i think this band fits that well though.

I may not have read it that thoroughly. Idk what I was talking about either though to be fair
