Stillworld is their consensus best release among most core bros but yeah you’ve checked that I think.
They’re all a little different. This is kinda more poppy with thall breakdowns
Greyview is the prob the more riff oriented album
Everchanger is unadulterated wank

Oh yeah Stillworld not view lol
I'll check Greyview

The Stillworld instrumental version is all I’ll ever really need from these guys. God does it slap. Like how Night Verses was good with a vocalist and then way better without

I love the instrumental but for me it’s just not the same experience without Ben, but I def get it
|
| |
Totally! Ben’s great and i dig how passionate he was. Maybe if I’d gotten into the album with the vocals first, my opinion would be different, but good shit all around

Tbh Marcus makes this album for me. One of these days I'm gonna read the lyrics during a listen through on the album because that might enhance the experience.

This album is lacking a random section of Trey blast beats that every album has and im missing em

I'd honestly have preferred slightly less reverb on the vocals to make the lyrics a bit more understandable, but the production works for the hazy atmosphere so it's no big deal.

Two more listens just reinforced everything I thought - pretty good for what it is but not necessarily what I think could be their best. Need more variation with the instruments because yeah it is quite predictable. Harsh vocals definitely got better though and the pacing seems right, I'd like an album of Stillworld-esque songs instrumentally with Marcus

@nash: tbh I'm a little surprised considering your other Invent Animate opinions - namely their most recent EP. This is basically that vibe extended to a full album?

Yeah this isn't exactly a huge departure so not sure why you're so butt hurt

Honestly I need to revisit that because for some strange reason it didn't immediately click for me like this
Update: the production there isn't as great but that EP rips

Because there’s too much singing/clean/faux emotive sections, hardly any memorable riffs whatsoever, songwriting is super predictable, and everything here that could even be labeled as good has been done better by them before so why on earth would I ever listen to this again.
Does this sound the same sonically as the EP? Yes, but the balance was better, and it was a small dose. Tbh I expected a 2.5 on this based on the singles. I didn’t even love Greyview anyway. This was just even worse than I anticipated
