The majority of their breakdowns are good; very catchy and heavy. They're pretty average as far as breakdowns go, but pulled off MUCH better than other bands. And not-boring. Breakdowns abuse is all too common, but Unearth certainly does not.

this might sound weird but my favorite thing about this album is that for the most part they didn't try to make each song 4 and a half minutes.

That's certainly a good thing. Lots of metalcore can be boring when it gets drawn out (even more than in the confines of a 3 min song)

^ I'd only say the last one though for Messengers.

That kind of doesn't make sense.
Even though it's old - what I meant was, I can't listen to a song over and over repeatedly...if I listen to one enough, I might not even be able to revisit the CD because it'd be too warn out. Only the best CDs could I listen to more than 10 playthroughs or so.

This album grew a little stale after 10 listens. It's still a worthy addition to any metalcore collection, but the genre in general just doesn't cut it for me anymore.

the genre is very stale as afar as im concerned but i feel there are just a few bands still giving the genre a good name, this band is one of them

this album blows d's.
this weirdo thor just got the idea into his head that it was somehow different from average metalcore and then everyone else just followed his lead.

Absolutely loved the album. I listened to each song through like 3 times before I'd go to the next track (aside from the instrumentals).

Big Bear and the Hour of Chaos is so good...

I still need to hear this, most of sputnik praises it non-stop. I've only heard The Oncoming Storm, but that was only average for me.

Really like this.
IMO They've changed a bit from the previous album, more thrashy.
If they are still considered metalcore, then they are definitely the leaders of it.
Can't wait to hear what they come up with next.
Although....without Mike Justian? I personally think his drumming was pretty decent for a metalcore band.

Also, I think the "This Lying World" intro kind of owns all the songs on this - if you understand I what I mean.
