Ignoring that I don't agree with pretty much any point in this at all, which is totally fine, this review is so horrendously bloated and pointlessly verbose that you'd think J. R. R. Tolkien wrote it. The absolute embodiment of the smug internet critic sniffing his own farts.

I swear people hate this band so much that they just say shit like this and think it has any weight or wisdom to it. Not liking the band is totally fine but comments like this make me think you guys heard one gay song of theirs in like 2010 and then poke back in every album release to talk shit.

Frontierer is cool but their last album put me to sleep. There's just no variation in that sound whatsoever to me.

Every album post Alpha/Omega (their magnum opus) have gotten progressively worse and worse. This album is FAR too long. I lost interest pretty quickly. And I loved Wildfire. Too bad.

P3 is their melodic/emotional masterclass lol

What's standing out to me is how I can't really get a good grasp on what identity this album has. It feels like the "mashup of everything they've done up to this point" album. Periphery 1 was their most technical, Periphery 2 was a good cross between that and normal melodic stuff, the Juggernauts were their most consistent and concise works, P3 was an emotional masterclass with a few moshers at the beginning, P4 was their most complete album song-writing wise, and this... this is basically a mix of everything. We don't get ANYTHING like Satellites, Lune, or Absolomb though. Even Silhouette doesn't feel like it's on that level.

The critique of creative bankruptcy is totally valid tbh, as much as I don't want to admit it, they have been writing the same kind of riffs since the debut. But you could say this for every band basically (and wow Frontierer absolutely, jesus christ), it's just that Periphery is a prog band and people expect them to evolve exponentially with every album.
