that's the gross part about people who say "fatphobia." they try to co-opt the experiences of groups that are actually marginalized based on their race, sexual orientation etc while also actively discouraging people from feeling empowered to make positive changes in their life by saying being fat is healthy and not bad etc. it's really sinister shit

It broke me when people were mad at Brendan Fraser wearing a fat suit to play a 600 pound guy in The Whale when like obviously an actual 600 pound person would not be able to stand and act and move around for 16 hours a day on a film set

Obviously it’s wrong to hate someone for their weight but yes we are all better off ignoring Twitter discourse

So I opened up this album on Spotify and it has a video of Taylor talking about what kept her up at night and inspired this album and that video is seriously some disingenuous clown shit. (Looks to only display in Spotify app not on web version)

It's the fact that she is skinny and attractive, but labeling herself as fat as the issue, not the word fat. Her fanbase is mostly teenage females who are VERY impressionable and them seeing Taylor labeled as fat is not good for their own self image. We are all grown men here, of course it looks different to us.

But again it's really not THAT big of a deal, Twitter always takes it too far

True. On one hand, it’s understandable for her to have said insecurities and struggle with all the ways that impacts her life and other’s expectations and on the other, to the impact of all that you’ve said. Balance in this seems tricky and requiring finesse, and it’s gnarly and exhausting to think about all at once sometimes.

Especially when in her position, where self-expression comes with a level of influence that can go pretty deep.

Tricksy tricksy shit

artists are not morally obligated to form their artistic expression along the lines of the insecurities of random people they don't even know, that's an insane line of thinking
