"It wouldn't hurt looking for practices that do that sliding scale model. Idk where you live but I got to get therapy for as low as $2. It is kinda luck of the draw with who you get though"

I live in Florida so pretty much if I sprain my ankle I might as well kms as it's cheaper.

Got lucky on the first try with SSRIs too, feel that. I feel for people that have try like 5 different ones

Yeah getting success on your first SSRI is insanely good luck. Since most of these meds have a 4-6 week onset, it is really hard to get people who are depressed or anxious to stick with a medication for that long while also dealing with the onboarding effects. I was on SSRIs for years and transitioned to an SNRI because I had ballooned in weight, had zero libido, and was living a very flattened life. Psychopharmacology is really risk-adverse when it comes to medications (i.e., even if you don't feel "great" but the medication is "working" then you're less likely to get the change you want). That's why I stuck with a medication for so long, because I didn't know any better.

Now, 12 years later and my new therapist is like, "Hm I think your problems might be ADHD and not MDD." Seems like there is a growing concern that adults with ADHD are being misdiagnosed and prescribed inappropriate medication because ADHD in adults tends to mimic symptoms associated with depression and anxiety.

Yeah that sucks.

I hesitate when any doctor tries to switch me to new meds even when I tell them everything is perfect. Thankfully it hasn't happened much, but some doctors are like "well... I don't think that's your problem." Like motherfucker I'm just here for a checkup stop trying to ruin my routine I don't care about your opinion.

I stopped going to physical doctors because of this. Online doctors have been a godsend to me. They aren't pushy or full of themselves.

I had a doctor move me to a newer SSRI that sent me into serotonin syndrome within a few days. I was at work drenched in sweat feeling like I was having a panic attack. After that I got put on Cymbalta and Wellbutrin. Cut a ton of weight thanks to the Wellbutrin and it kicked my nicotine addiction completely. I've been off meds for a little over a year now and honestly struggle to notice much change. Granted I've had years of therapy in that time and age has calmed my nerves down so I feel less dependent on meds to "fix" me. Now suddenly I'm getting eyed for ADHD and I'm like 🤷‍♂️

I love Zoloft so much.

It halted my anxiety, it cured my insomnia, it made me want to actually eat food.

If any doctor tries to take it away from me I'm releasing Hell. Not literally btw

Really happy that it worked for you. When the meds work, they can be life changers for sure. Always advocate for your needs.
