Always wanted to play Nier but heard the pc port is shit so never bothered
|

Nier being Nier, I would bet good money that this is just Taro and pals having a slow afternoon, dredging up unused content and staging the footage for a grassroots publicity kick
But bloody good form if so tbh

yea people are saying it’s not modded by the looks of it, which is impressive in itself.
Yoko Taro sometime ago said all the secrets have been found so I understand the frenzy it’s creating lol, it could be trolling or I’ve even seen people theorizing marketing for the game coming out on switch or something like that

wishful thinking: but it would be cool if it had something to do with having a Replicant save file

How the actual fuck did a Sputnik user actually achieve something?

There's a moment on Koi Pond where every time I hear it I'm expecting it to just launch into Jimmy Eat World's "23" and I can't really think of a higher compliment than that.

"How the actual fuck did a Sputnik user actually achieve something?"
Apparently you don't remember Conrad Tao :D

I remember him but forget what he did. Was he in a band, or was he the one who turned into a celebrated journalist?
The truth is, a lot of Sputnik users have amounted to a lot, from accomplished sports writers to starting their own websites and even to succeeding musically. Everyone's definition of success varies, but a lot of the staff/emeritus also have respectable well-paying IRL jobs. We've had everything from professional statisticians to lawyers.

Conrad? Wasn’t he a fantastic classical/pianist composer.

"Conrad? Wasn’t he a fantastic classical/pianist composer."
Bingo! That guy is ridiculously accomplished in the classical world

The main thing I remember about Conrad was getting promoted to staff at the same time as him (Fall 2011) and having this "oh shit" moment where I felt like I needed to step up my game because he was out of my league from a skill/prose standpoint. Unfortunately he didn't stick around very long after that, but now I can see why; he was on to better things.

I don’t often check user projects but damn, with this reception I just might have to give this a go!

Excited to have some Boney input on this. It's very indie/emo/gazey, great lyrics (I recommend reading along -- although don't expect an Ethel Cain storyline, it's more of a series of loose concepts), and subtle melodies. Jack's vocals and Tim's guitars are the main reason I love the band, but the bass and drumming here is also occasionally very impressive. For me, it's got a very uplifting/summery vibe (with added emotional impact), but everyone's interpretation will vary. Best points of comparison seem to be early Turnover/Jimmy Eat World.

hope you like Boney!

Hm I don’t know JEW aside from mainstream tracks but I do like Peripheral Vision (if that counts as early Turnover) but it definitely sounds like it’s at least up my alley (unsurprisingly given YoYo’s taste).

given your Ethel love, you also appreciate R E V E R B so I think you'll find a thing or two to like here : )

Miss when this had a 4.8 avg, but on the other hand I'm glad so many people are checking this out. 48 ratings and over 13k views on the review; both are nearly double the debut's numbers from 2020 and this hasn't even been out a week yet.
