Not saying Steven is a bad bassist by any stretch…just miss Colin’s grooves. Steven himself admitted the sound for the bass is different here as he is a guitarist first and doesn’t describe himself as a bassist

Solid album, better than Incident at the very least.

I might like The Incident more, but if including the bonus tracks then this might be better.

Well this came and went. The only song I think is exceptional is Harridan. Other than that it’s just pretty ok 😐

first three songs here are *just fine* but the last 4 actually reminds me of this band when they were fun, great run of songs. Love in the Past Tense from the bonuses is pretty nice too

finally revisited this, and i'd honestly be tempted to give it the 2.5 treatment if it weren't for Dignity. alarmingly stale for a supposed comeback record

Yeah it kinda sounds almost like an afterthought right? That’s why I didn’t really get my hopes super up.

Unfortunately, I'm starting to agree a bit. Much like Fear Inoculum, a lot of the more half-baked ideas lend credence to the fact that the album took so many years and internal conflicts to create. Plus, is it just me, or are there moments on here that don't sound like Porcupine Tree at all? I definitely get the feeling that SW solo stuff seeped into the record to a degree, especially in regards to Chimera's Wreck

More excited to finally see them live in a couple of months, never thought it would happen so I'm happy with the reunion regardless.

Sadly I'm missing them by only a month or so. I'm coming back to Cali on the 20th of October, but they're playing there in September... and then they're heading straight back to Europe after that. Shit sucks :[

@Koris this does feel very PT to me. It sounding like Steven's solo stuff is what I was most worried about, and I think they avoided that.

To be fair, I should have specified which Wilson era I was talking about. I was referring to his more proggy stuff like Raven and HCE, in the sense that this album combines old PT with the more traditional prog elements of those Wilson records

But yeah, I'm quite thankful we didn't get another Future Bites, lol
