I just spent some time reading the lyrics and I have to admit that they moved me as much as the music, if not even more... Thank you Joseph for turning your pain into art and also for having the guts to share it with all of us. I have no doubt that this music and words mean a lot to many people, in many different ways...

I've been much of a black metal guy but this is too good and too varied to not love it all. Fantastic stuff!

It's not easy to choose a favourite, but I think I vibe with "Discarnate" the most. Those transitions from the blast beat sections to the slow parts are the sweetest.

I’m still getting moist at the intro

Funny, I think Disincarnate is a good "single" should such a thing exist in BM, but it's a cut below the bookends for me. With that said, it's still a solid 4/5 track vs. the opener and closer which are each perfect.

the ethereal shroud sound lends itself a lot better to the long form songs where you can really give the listener a 'journey' but i'm really proud of both 'discarnate' and 'lanterns' - they're the best shorter (comparatively!) songs i feel i've done.

Great album @DarkNoctus. Just curious - what are some of your influences?
feeling wolves in the throne room & blut aus nord vibes in the songs.

Just listened to the whole thing for the first time. Beautiful stuff. Astral Mariner is absolutely stunning.

i think key influences were moonsorrow and summoning in the early days... their ear for melody and cinematic sound
i built on the melodic riffs with bands like in flames, dark tranquillity early ensiferum
the death/doom and funeral doom vibes of esoteric, mourning beloveth were huge influences to me in the way i present sound and layers
i think more long-form black metal bands like wolves in the throne room did indeed influence me but i think darkspace was a much bigger influence.

^I'm going to have to check all of them out because this is truly astounding. This is just the album I needed to help me get back into black metal. I went through a brief period about 10 years ago where I enjoyed the genre but it was a flash in the pan and I never revisited it.

me and john have been friends for like 10 years dude! he's amazing both as a drummer and a person. absolutely love him. ♥

both his marsh dweller records kick ass. he put SO much into his debut, it was such a passion project of his. i'm so proud of him for both his marsh dweller records.

Can you tell him he has the biggest fan in Canada!!!!! Tell him Wanderer is a close 5/5 for me.

I'm three spins deep on this, needs wayyyy more time to digest.

Considering (without talking for those med people) it's hit BNM, has an Emeritus (staff) review, has been achieving regular discussion - - I dare say it's on the shortlist for a release date feat. There might just be a small queue of reviews doing the rounds.

Good to see this popping up in a few 'Best Of...' lists already. Be proud Joe and well done.

I'll echo that the new (ish) Noltem album rules, as does this!

It'll definitely get featured. With December being such a slow month it's more beneficial to wait until the release date so we can spread things out a bit.
