If only Death sounded like that. that's what Symbolic SHOULD sound like

Grind fests are funny to watch but they are definitely not for me. Not a party guy I guess, I prefer a good talk and/or walk after headbanging a little bit, being able to remember every bit of the musical journey. Stay away from drugs or alcohol guys haha

@gentleman's big post: pretty much addressed all already
'It's not liking things "because". It's not as if someone is faking to like something, what sense would that make?'
hyperion's argument boils down to 'just because'. i don't doubt anyone faking liking something, yet when i say i heavily dislike symbolic i'm met with 'lol troll' etc. double standard ye see eh?
'Opening your mind to it might be the total opposite to easy but once you do, little by little, I start to see stuff on it I like and end up being able to truly enjoy it and appreciate stuff for what it is.'
oh god prejudiced condescension the power of christ compels you
'Then again, your comment really ends up sounding like nothing but pretentious stuff, implying that because music doesn't "coherently do something" to you it won't to the rest,'
ive never said anything implying of the sort or otherwise
'or saying that opening your mind to other music is hive mentality when it might be the total opposite.'
what? i don't think you're really reading anything i've written. i was referring to the hive mentality of everyone automatically liking symbolic in response to hyperion basically ppl like it just cuz argument
'The classic hive mentality is to stay in the comfort zone of what you like because that's what's "good" and what you don't like "is not good"'
getting tired of this condescension from someone who clearly doesn't understand anything i've said. nothing from death is new to me, the opinions i have about each of their albums now is pretty much the same i've always had every single time i listen to them.
in any case everything you've stated can be flipped the other way by saying that clearly symbolic is your own and many others' preferred zone yet when someone happens to dislike it they're out of line

'It's obv impossible to like everything but finding stuff you enjoy is very easy if you understand your own tastes. If you're disliking 95% of what you're finding, you're just looking in the wrong places, perhaps intentionally.'

you dont have to respond to every single criticism
but your next review should be megadeth - countdown to extinction. i saw you 1/5'd that one, it's pretty overrated imo

"in any case everything you've stated can be flipped the other way by saying that clearly symbolic is your own and many others' preferred zone yet somehow i'm out of line"
I'm not a huge fan of this album, I enjoy it from every know and then but it is not something I'm a fan of, yet I can see why people love it and I can't deny its weight
I don't see the double standard, I can't see how my take can be taken as a pretentious point of view instead of a more tolerant one, since what I'm aiming at is a more open minded approach to music. The problem isn't that you don't like this, that is totally fine, it is the bitching about it that's the problem.
I've read your comments on the thread, yet those comments don't seem to match your actions. I don't like beans yet I don't write hundreds of lines on the internet calling them pieces of shit just because I don't like them.
For example, high pitched vocals clearly don't seem to be your kind of stuff from what you've shown in the site yet you went on to listen to all Priest albums just to shit on Rob's vocals on every one of them as if something was supposed to change simply because they aren't your kind of stuff when it is undeniable that Halford does have one hell of a vocal range
Again, the problem isn't not liking something, it is how entitled you sound about it. It really seems a cliché but I suppose some people really need to understand that their opinions aren't facts like I said a few pages ago, because you really seem invested in proving that this is objectively bad
Anyway, Sonoma's right on replying to every criticism, so I should stop with it as well. My vision on the topic should be clear by now and my eyes hurt as well by how huge my own testaments written in here are
keep on rocking fellas, I like to believe that in the end everything can be reduced to all of us loving music. Gotta go jam some roxy music now

prob took it as something like "well if you just accept the truth into your heart you would know that it doesnt actually suck" but i agree it didnt come across that way to me
