Apple says: “children’s music”. You stitching me up good sir?

That got me too. I am only one song in, haven't had a chance to continue to see if it's actually children's music or not. Sunnyvale's review is promising though.

God, Matt's cleans are so bad. Otherwise this is okay. Definitely their most Ascendancy sounding album but without the pizzazz that made that album so good.

Why does matt's cleans sound like the male singer from lacuna coil lol. I thought this would be a lot like Shogun just from the way it was being talked about but damn what a letdown.

Man I really wanna like this but Matt's cleans are killing a lot of enjoyment for me. Instrumentally this beats ass and his screams are pretty decent, but for every cool moment I'm met with some lame clean-driven drivel

Wasn't too hyped about seeing them next month... Well, that has changed! This may go up to a 4.5 depending how angry I feel.

I think Matt’s cleans are the best they’ve ever been on this. I don’t see him carrying a song anytime soon but they’re decent, often on this they remind me of James La Brie, another often slammed vocalist.

Once he started adding that weird vibrato, it ruined him

Idk I'm just not feeling the cleans on this. I'll give it a few more spins to see if it grows on me at all, so far the t/t and Fall Into Your Hands are my favorites by far

I dunno, I'm hearing more Hugh Jackman from The Greatest Showman than James LaBrie here. Seriously though, they're alright, I was never mad on Matt's vocals in the first place. Fits nicely on here.

Yeah, I never got the negativity around Matt's vocals. They aren't the best in the game, but they sure don't ruin anything for me...

I love his cleans on Shogun but it doesn't sound nearly the same here

This is the formula for a good trivium album above all else

The worst but fair thing you can say about Heafy's newer cleans is that they might be boring to you. But calling them bad ... I don't get it

I never noticed how much they tend to recycle their riffs sometimes. Crisis has so much from the Ascendancy title track.

I'm all for more diversity though. I feel like newer bands are somehow incentivised to milk the same formulas over and over, but maybe that's just me
