Album keeps growing on me which is impressive. Despite Sam’s overpresence on Yellowjacket it’s still a banger. No songs I dislike. A tasty metalcore burger indeed

yellowjacket kinda grew on me the last time i jammed this. some pretty sick riffing throughout that which i overlooked on my first few playthroughs and sam does sound pretty sick during that breakdown, plus my complaints w the chorus are kinda diminished now that ive listened closer and can actually kinda hear courtney on the final chorus (still wish it was louder tho). conversely, strange world grew off me bc that song is like all fluff

is the hurt you hate because of the generic bad chorus? i can see that i suppose. i think it has its charm
live in a strange world really is the only song that does nothing for me, feels like it goes nowhere the entire time

yea strange world rlly is a non event of a song. and yea hurt you's chorus is pretty weak, but so is the guitar work a lot of the time except for like, once in the verse and the breakdown (altho those didnt impress me much last i checked this). just kind of all around the least interesting song here

Hurt You's chorus is great, even if generic, it does what a good chorus should do.

I wasn't sold until the second half of the chorus showed up, but it ended up being one of my favorites on the album. Can't say I care about how generic it is. Also, no love for Halcyon in these ratings, THAT chorus really hits me, might be my favorite outside of Constance which wins everything because of how beautiful it is.

i like halcyon a lot mid tier here but the chorus is very nice and the breakdown at the end slaps hard

For me it's probably something like this
1. Constance
2. The Summit
3. Halcyon
4. Sun Killer
5. Secret Garden
6. Yellowjacket
7. Silk In The Strings
8. Circle With Me
9. Eternal Blue
10. We Live In a Strange World
11. Holy Roller
12. Hurt You
I don't get the love for Eternally Blue. It's fine but to me Halcyon and The Summit do a similar and hit much better. But overall there's nothing I actively skip here except maybe Hurt You and Holy Roller halfway cause it gets repetitive real quick.

The top 8 tracks absolutely slap. I love every single one.. Strange World and Circle With Me are enjoyable, but Strange World feels underwritten (every time I listen I feel like there's supposed to be more at the end, but it just...stops abruptly), and Circle With Me is just too generic. Hurt You and Yellowjacket are easily the worst songs this band has ever written imo.

Hurt You's chorus is ok but that chunky main riff is just really bland compared to most of Mike's guitar work IMO

@kalkwiese The video definitely enhances the experience with Constance. A lot of people can relate to the subject matter. And the song is just so incredibly well written imo.

Their best song remains Rule of Nines for me though. But Constance is essentially a perfect song for what it is. Also y'all are sleeping on The Summit. It's sooooo pretty.
