You know it's a great album when everyone seems to have different favorites, and no one is wrong.

Hard agree. I think Summit to t/t is the best run on the album easy

are the complaints regarding autotune are ones that appear near the end of Summit for example? meh, it's pretty lame to complain about that, adds a different texture to the music, I love it.

Mh, I feel it in songs like Circle With Me in the chorus especially, for example. It very noticeable there.

It isn't lame to complain about that imo, because while it may still be great, it can't be awesome imo, because it gets neutered

But somehow people can find the most artificial and overproduced music (in general, not referring to SB) to be emotional. It really is totally subjective.

I think I would like it more, if it was more pronounced in some places and less in others, so it's like a stylistic choice, like Pain of Salvation did on their last album

doesn't hinder anything at all in terms of enjoyment for me, she can most likely pull it off live with no autotune so I do not care

Yea, I have no doubts about that. I listened to a love version of Blessed be and it was cool. It was phone recording, so there was no post production at all.

But I mostly listen to studio albums, so I do care lol

Like I feared, having listened to the singles ruined my first listen. It sounds like a compilation album.

Silk in the Strings slaps tho

I was referring to the robotic sort of vocoder section on Summit in this comment btw

Courtneys got great vocals and they're just being wasted on very boring generic djenty instrumentation

I guess it more "feels" like a compilation album? My guess is that feeling will fade away with more listens. But it must be awkward at first.

@Tundra: I have no problems with vocoder stuff! Mostly because it's clear that vocals are distorted and manipulated in a certain way.

No, that is just an effect. My earlier complaint was mostly about the pre-chorus/chorus of Sun Killer. I can just hear the pitch correction, and it's a little off putting. But that said, I'll get used to it. Oddly enough, might be my favorite track from the album.

@gravity it felt like a compilation at first, but the flow really grabs you after repeat listens.

@jeetjeet hard disagree, bro. Mike does far more than "djenty instrumentation". far, far, far more.

Eh. There's some nice atmosphere going on in the softer songs but the heavy songs literally sound like a dime-a-dozen bands out there doing the same thing. Any other band could've made a song like Yellowjacket or Holy Roller or Silk in The Strings.

Agreed! 5 singles released months early? Still dig the album, but it doesn't feel "fresh".

@Jeet - I actually agree. I think this is very by the numbers, but she elevates it to make it enjoyable for me
