I would definitely like Amazonia more if it wasn't for that vapid chorus riff, it's way too bland

First two Gojira albums are incredible and innovative, nothing quite like them. The rest of the discography is good, but falls short of the experimentation and unique nature of their first two LP's.

Production isn't perfect but having the bass so up front is pretty nice

Can honestly see this one being more a grower, but it was definitely underwhelming on first listen. Probably didn't help that I had heard all of the singles beforehand, which were some of the stronger pieces.

I'm surprised at how much certain people dislike this album. I think that for an obvious attempt at reaching a more mainstream audience it remains quite technical and fun and heavy.

Someone is criticizing the simplicity chorus riff of amazonia but I think that it's actually an example of the band's mastery. The riff ask for one week of guitar practice and still it works perfectly (imo).

Anyway. I'll still prefer From Mars to Serious or L'Enfant Sauvage but Fortitude and Magma didn't feel like complete collapse, more like "Half the songs will now be oriented towards a more mainstream audience and metalheads will have to accept to get only four of five truly good ones."

You can already hear the MA influence on their demos as Godzilla, but i agree that as Gojira they gave it a fairly unique twist
