we're in a thread about moment, not the gallery - they've long abandoned that sound and how you feel about that is up to you
maybe you should be the one to gtfo if that's how you feel

The Gallery is not overrated. Amongst the landmark albums that pioneered the genre it's the one that gets the least mentioned. Context is important when looking at an album. You can't compare it to all the melodeath albums that copied or got inspired by it after it's release. I mean obviously the style evolved immensely since 1995. In retrospect yeah it may sound less impressive than when it came out, but IMO that album still hold it's own and has some of the best tracks in DT's catalogue.
Moment is a grower.

perhaps overrated was the wrong term - i feel the same way about it as i do ulver's bergtatt i guess. i recognise its importance in that it was a landmark, wouldn't argue it's a classic either. i just don't enjoy it.

At this stage of the game, it really is DT on cruise control. There are a few great tracks on this album but the rest is mostly pretty average.

On my 3rd listen this morning, as I assumed it gets better with each listen.

Based on my first listen Transient and Standstill are probably my favorites.

First listen today and unsurprisingly it rules

So would Haven, The Mind’s Eye, and WATV be considered their 3 weakest (not including Skydancer)?

I feel like haven gets picked on too much, some of my favorite DT tracks are off that

Considering Skydancer and The Mind’s I are two of my favorites, no

how can anyone think fiction is weak omg
it is full of bangers from start to finish, not a weak track
|
| |
The gallery is 100% overrated
|

The Mind's I was considered their weakest 15-20 years ago, but with their couple of "ok" recent releases (for me Atoma, WATV, Character and Construct), I would have to put it near the top now.
Top 3 for me is The Gallery, Damage Done and Fiction, so a lot of DT's work seems up for debate.
