Liiiiive to fiiiiight another daaaay
@chelse I haven't analyzed the lyrics either cause that would have made for a veeeery extensive review. The official version is that the album is dedicated to Justin and Belinda's two cats that passed away and that's the reason Ryan Patterson is on Cry of Love (his minine also r.i.p.)
I didn't know She's in parties was about M. Monroe, wow

i think the only sad feeling is that i'll never get that first listen feeling of this again
it floored me in such a deeply profound way, i still can't make it through this album without getting misty eyed

Damn. Guess I gotta check this.
Holy shit. That heavy, destructive intro to House of Fools got my hopes up this was gonna be m/... Still love what I'm hearing so far.

lol yeah that horn followed by the band going apeshit is such a good first impression.

Bumping this to a 5. Gave it a second listen in the dark and complete isolation. After clearly hearing the lyrics I couldn't help but cry like a little bitch when The Invisible Past came on. Great musicianship combined with sadboy lyrics just resonate perfectly if you're in the right mood. That last song is probably the only downside I can think of, not because of its quality which is definitely there, but because of its awkward placement as a closer. Hulten's song would be a better fit for that spot IMO.
|
| |
Yeah other reviews I checked say the same thing about the closer. Hulten really steals the show.
I think one more listen and I will probably 5 it too, I think it will be the first 5 this year.
|
| |
I was already typing something along the lines of "that closer is totally magnificent!!!!" when the actual closer began. The actual closer definitely wasn't bad, but the track before it is a highlight here.

Hmm, not that convinced by this overall. Opens and closes very well, but a lot of the drabness I kinda associate with this project is still hanging around and makes tracks like "Lost" and I guess "Everything I Say" a bit of a chore
as far as 2020 prog goes, it's way over to the Gazpacho end of just-okay and miles away from, idk, Pure Reason Revolution

...Cry of Love is one of the best songs of the year...so pure
this is very different, yet imo much better than Pure Reason Revolution...

I love Lost!!!!
Album is holding up well. Feel a 4.0 incoming!
Does anyone know the sample (?) from the beginning of track 3? The lady speaking? I heard it in other music too I think! Minilogue - Blomma for instance.

'Did you check this yet Demon?'
Nah. This is slightly on the lengthy side and possibly not stylistically suitable for the ideal commute listening material. It also doesn't strike me as 'at work music'. I'm trying to pencil it in for some home listening, but Anna Von is currently dominating those precious evening hours.
