If this had palatable production I'd guess I'd 2.5-3 it. And even if I did 2 it, that's still raising it a whole point off of production alone, from unlistenable to just poor. Dont see the prob now that I think about it.

I thought the production on Emperor's first two albums was ass the first time I heard them (probably blasphemy).

So again, can 100% agree, production here is an aquired taste. But once you aquire it…

Would you consider this headphone or speaker optimized?

100% headphones, preferably with a wide soundstage and good low-end. I had to completely screw with my car's EQ settings to be able to hear anything besides "bfffffffhhhhhhzzzz" on this.

Word. I have some pretty quality sennheisers so at least I can confirm that I listened to it right when I say it's not for me.

I did wrap them in tinfoil tho

See, that's the issue, the tin foil jacks up the mids and highs, which basically makes this one giant continuous record scratch.

biggest disappointment was always Ulver, their place and sound has influenced so many bands I luv and their sound on paper aligns w a lot of things I look for in music, i just... can’t get into it

And now I'm pacing back and forth

Wishing you were at my door

I'd open up and you would say, Hey

It was enchanting to meet you

Agalloch has kinda grown off me over the years but I still dig some ashes and PF occasionally. The beginning of bloodbirds is top notch

PF is my favorite. But The Mantle and Ashes both were as well at some point

Jammed this recently. It was very good. Sounds like every other Paysage album.

I have no idea why this very generic sounding lo-fi atmospheric black metal is somehow the new standard for modern black metal though (which is a whole other kettle of fish, as though there aren't so many extremely different styles of black metal that to hold it all to the same standard, which for some reason is now *this album*, isn't somehow absurd.)
