Agreed, but then my 2020 list would probably have about 15 albums on it.

I have considerably less albums rated this year than 2019, still I could wrangle a meaty 50 great albums of 2020.

I went kind of crazy the last couple of years, so decided to dial it back and concentrate on older stuff. No regrets so far.

It can be tough avoiding that shiny new thing at times.

The other day I couldn't decide whether to jam Vektor or Artificial Brain so I ended up jammin this.

I tried this first time yesterday night. Only listened to Moonbelt Immolator, but I had a blast. Really good song, doesn't feel as long as 25 minutes.

I feel like prog death has now way better production than most prog metal acts, because they opt for a more analogue, natural sound, and they hit the nail on the head.

I love that Blood Inc Hidden History progressive earthy dm sound that’s coming through in bands like Cryptic Shift, Cosmic Putrefaction, Faceless Burial and Mortal Incarnation.

I’d prefer to say ‘Starspawny’ rather than Hidden History, BI’s first album has had longer to establish it’s impact. Idk about direct influence necessarily, but I imagine the knock-on effect within the scene is more keenly felt.

Lots of good stuff though, definitely.

VoidCeremony (2).

the split these dudes were on this year is also very good. four sci-fi themed band's each approaching that sound their own way

@Coast, I feel like BI's latest album is quite recent to have established anything - besides, it lends heavily from Death and Cynic and other tech death pioneers. I don't think the production style was theirs on the first place, is what I'm saying.

I feel like this year's Imperial Triumphant's Alphaville, Faceless Burial's Speciation, Sweven's The Eternal Resonance and Cryptic Shift's Visitations... cover the same ground as far as genre is concerned. Am I right? Please inform a newbie!

I'd take Alphaville and Sweven out of that pack...but they're both awesome

Alphaville is just very different beast altogether, very little in common with this besides the vague and rather limiting ‘tech death’ descriptor.
