I asked about this the other day but no one answered.
What do you think happened to the user base? They just go to other sites like rym or reddit or did they just stop caring about music sites? What's your opinion?
I feel like it's weird to leave this for another site since all other sites aren't even in the same niche or they suck.

Forums in general have declined over time. Sput's format is pretty 'antiquated' by today's standards. I'm no expert though, since I think people here have more personality an I enjoy the threads that we have. Reddit isn't awful, but everyone seems to be the same comment.

Exactly, reddit is insufferable.
Just people repeating memes in a chain for karma. It's the worst system ever and creates echo chambers for people to just keep repeating the same shit over and over.

I float away from the site every so often for a while, but I tend to always come back. This is one of my favorites places to find new music and get to talk about it with others, whereas in the real world, most ppl I know don't dive into music nearly as deep as myself and a lot of users here do
Ppl complain fairly often that the site never gets updated so that may be a contributor to going to a diff but similar veined site. Sometimes I think ppl get 'bullied' off the site, too, but usually they have a tendency to be hard to deal with and kind of cause their own misery. Every so often, we get a shitload of 'troll' accounts and I think that can drive users away, too
It's hard to say if there really is any true common denominators for the userbase leaving tho

Call me old fashioned but these type of forums have 100x times more personality than the new type of community websites where people are just a letter or a 5px avatar with a penguin and you only get to pick 3 different colors for the penguin.

Honestly though, I feel like I'd suffer from some real cognitive dissonance if I met some users in real life and they looked nothing like their avatars. That stuff just becomes like, the very fabric of a person on Sput sometimes lol.

I love the fact that Bender is about to kill himself but yet he still feels the need to not actually spend the quarter it costs to use the booth
Damn it all, that show was so funny. It wasn't quite the same when it came back from being canceled, which made me sad, but it was still pretty good
That last episode, tho, holy shit was it amazing
