Disagree with every ounce of my being but that’s ok I still love u guys
Just not really getting TWY comparisons except for like 1 track. And if there’s one thing this album doesn’t lack its heart, even if it does lack some originality
edit: damn you, page break

i still definitely think this has heart theres just something about the songs themselves that arent clicking, and im certain it just has to do with every fucking song being in the same key lol. whenever i listen to this im always really into routine pain when it starts but every passing song bar the singles (which are great btw and made me think thisd be their best) it just feels like im on repeat after a while
gonna keep trying tho def the album i wish i liked the most this year. its not even like its bad i guess i just expected more, but its doing really really well for them at least which im happy to see

I like this more than ITTC, but only by a slim margin

"i realize there isn't a huge distinction between pop-punk and rock these days, but yeah."
yes there is
If I like it, it's rock
If I don't, it's pop-punk

Onion:
yeah exactly whenever i listen to this it feels derivative. a few of these feel like auto generated wonder years songs
WatchItExplode:
Lacks heart while somehow being the most extraordinarily whiny album in recent memory.

Finally people who get it! This feels insincere and calculated and even though I should love it in theory, I just can't get on board.

BigHans, thanks for your list of "Anthem Hearts" genre bands. Just checked out Red City Radio and "An Introduction of Sorts" just blew me away--exactly what the "Anthem Hearts" label means, and feels so similar to Spanish Love Songs.

Maybe I'm the only person who's 100% with Atari on this, this right here is my shit and maybe it's only my shit, but I can live with that. This certainly sticks with me stronger than The Wonder Years do, and lyrically it cuts through a lot deeper than anything The Menzingers have done since On the Impossible Past.

the first one of these bands to say the word "capitalism" in a song gets a gold star. this album is especially so close to just coming out and saying the cause of these problems but never does

The big difference between this and TMP is that TMP sucks.

Great review and great album
very curious how this band will progress, specially now that they appear completely self aware and probably wondering how long they can keep this sound and themes

I liked this one the first listen but now im actively being annoyed with how the vocalist totally exaggerates the trembling voice thing to the extreme

"I liked this one the first listen but now im actively being annoyed with how the vocalist totally exaggerates the trembling voice thing to the extreme"
weirdly enough that's also a very common criticism of Soupy for TWY
this has heart for sure but I hope the next album has some thematic evolution, both musically and lyrically. This is still really good though; the execution is just so solid. But another album like this would feel like the drop in quality from After the Party to Hello Exile

I wish this album was around when I was in high school. I think I really could've appreciated it then, and would be able to get nostalgia pleasure from it now. As it stands now, though, I'm just really not whiny and self-hating enough to appreciate it anymore

Love seeing this on Metacritic with an 87 average.
It also makes me happy, that any old random browsing that site, will open up the album and see Atari's closing paragraph.
"What we have here will likely go down in history as the band’s magnum opus. It’s just so fucking massive and Netflix-level binge-worthy. Without a slow song or acoustic number, Brave Faces Everyone is ten tracks of loud, abrasive rock music that should connect with anyone who’s life isn’t perfect."

Not gonna lie, this is something I really love about the album. The dude ain't just hitting notes, he's on the edge of a breakdown at any given moment. Matches the lyrical tone of the album perfectly.
