Nah, the guy can’t reinvent the wheel every time, nice summation of his career thus far and thoroughly enjoyable. Consistent flow despite the stylistic alterations during the runtime too. Maybe a couple of minor mishaps but I enjoyed it a lot overall.

Can we not turn this thread into another place for gyro to bitch and moan about flamagra?

perfectly sums up my opinion on that too, its not among the best of the year for me but it definitely has a charm to it with some highlights. actually feel very similarly as i did towards that avalanches comeback record - neither particularly breaks new ground but they do what was expected of them well

8 tracks off flamagra ended up in my top songs of 2019 spotify list which is of no surprise

also my top played artist/album of the year. its easily one of his 'funnest' albums imo, though certainly not his most heady. thing is if you've been following flylo since the beginning, he's always bounced between the cosmic contemplative stuff and the cheeky cynical stuff. the former includes most of his substantiative and touching work, but the latter includes most of his straight up fucking bangers, and flamagra is chalk full of those.

what are your top picks off it?

I find it hard to think that anything Fly Lo does is weak. I'm starting to feel the same about Lapalux as I make my way through his discog. Loved the debut, and on to Lustmore.

they are both two of the best producers of the decade for sure imo
what are your top picks off it?
song plays wise these are the ones that ended up on my 2019 rewind:
Post Requisite
More
Spontaneous
Takashi
Yellow Belly
Black Balloons Reprise
Fire Is Coming
Remind U
funny that all 3 of the first singles that i initially felt lukewarm about made the cut. big growers.
|
| |
regardless of play count I'd probably add Heroes, All Spies, Inside Your Home, Actually Virtual, Andromeda, Debbie Is Depressed, FF4, and Land of Honey as well
....and the rest of the album

yeah because you yourself NEVER come into threads just to shit on other artists

Yea, but you're not supposed to shit in threads about music that's actually good.

yeah all of it
if you find elevator music transcendent and believe four-on-the-floor is the best beat ever, you'll love everything lapalux/deep house/elevator music
four-on-the-floor, deep house, and elevator music. all three of those digs are wildly inaccurate. if you're gonna shit on an artist at least listen to them first, sach.
|
| |
man that one moment where the four-on-the-floor goes from 80 to 88bpm really BLOWS my mind man
pretty much the entire album is 130 bpm.
