I'm glad you love it but it's definitely not better songwriting than Dead Throne and that era of the band. Those songs are really fun with lots of cool different parts. There's no cringe worthy spoken word (and i love spoken word by bands like la dispute) or clean vocals with embarrassing lyrics. Also in terms of drums, this album is boring compared to other releases. These slower songs just seem unimaginative.

I don’t know if it’s better than Dead Throne but it definitely doesn’t sound like a band that just learned how to write music like you said. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it’s poorly written. It’s just not your thing mang. It’s all good.

Would be cool to see them on another Audiotree session playing some of the new songs.

You don't think "There's a diamond lost inside the earth
Deep underground within the dirt
I dig and dig 'til my hands burn
But I'll never find her" is poorly written?

I don't think that's poorly written tbh, could be worse. Inoffensive lyrics that don't hurt, I don't mind the lyrics in most music anyway, except when they are very poor or very good

Agree with Bear. They’re not my favorite lyrics but they’re pretty inoffensive and the song itself is still good.

This album slaps. I have had zero interest in this band for the last decade and only listened because a friend recommended it, but it honestly kind of annoys me how much I like this album.

Haven't heard but I'm giving it a 1 for good measure

Please Say No really grew on me since the first listen.
As Kids is really the only track that I can't dig on this album.
Thank God there's no Lock & Load equivalent on this album either.

I think this album took the best parts of transit blues, and mixed in enough variety to make it an even more listenable and enjoyable album. Transit has some exceptional songs, but is kind of a slog to get through from start to end, because its so samey.
Still digesting this but I am really really enjoying it.
Surprised I am not seeing more love on here for "Numb".

Numb rules man. It hits real hard and it’s a good transitional song between The Thread and Isn’t it Strange. It all just flows really well from start to finish.

I disagree, Dead Throne doesn't have a single good song on it. All filler no killer.

Dead Throne is straight trash

Not too hyped on Dead Throne, has some fun stuff but is way more samey than Transit Blues.

prob With Roots or Plagues for me, but this is easily their worst

I loved this band as an edgy teenager (especially Plagues, but everything from Patterns/Dear Love all the way to the Zombie EP). They totally lost me with Dead Throne and 8:18 (different phase of my music tastes I guess?) but I did enjoy Transit Blues. I enjoy this album too.
