"It’s always so easy to believe survivors until it’s about someone close in your circle.'"
Dunno about "close" and I don't associate with them anymore, but I've known quite a few absolute scumbags. I believed the victims 100% in those cases

These kind of situations are always too complex to really analyze as an outsider imo
I know people say they always stand behind victims but when its someone you know it's very easy to be fed misinformation that veers you the way of a person's agenda. In some cases in can even be the alleged victim, I've personally seen cases of both. It's all strange and sad.

That argument makes it sound like they are too complex to analyze as an insider

Yeah maybe you're right
But tbf that does kind of alter what gets unveiled to the public eye.

Ok I'm a dumbass
I didn't realize there were multiple issues of sexual assault with Jimmy outside of the littlebatmonsta case, that's a little more irrefutable.
Also ngl his defense is a little pathetic even if its really unfortunate that he endured what he did as a child.
I never really understood that excuse. I myself had an abusive childhood but I imagine that should make you want to veer away from behaviors that turn you into the people who abused you.

You have to be on three different platforms at least to get the "whole" story, so that's not surprising. I just found the IG story a few hours ago

"Our bandmate Jimmy Claypool has been accused of sexual assault from multiple survivors and we believe and stand with them. Yesterday we made a statement that did not name Jimmy as the abuser, and it was done so that we could honor the requests of the survivor who contacted us initially. A survivor requested that Jimmy himself be the one to come forward and admit that he preyed upon drunk women, and violated consent and specific boundaries. Unfortunately he is unable to do this at this time, as of Saturday he has been institutionalized for his own safety and health which is where he currently remains. We recognize that not naming him immediately has caused confusion and the appearance of us sheltering an abuser, and we apologize for putting that impression forwards, it was not our intention.
As yesterday unfolded we learned of more instances of Jimmy's reprehensible behavior from multiple sources, and we believe them all. We as a group are taking time to process and unpack the fact that for the past 10 years we have enabled and been blind to a manipulator and abuser of this magnitude. These feelings are ours to unpack as a group and in private, as we are dedicated to centering the voices of the survivors and doing what we can to make sure their preferences are honored with accountability, honesty and integrity. Please don’t be sad about our band being gone, instead please focus that energy on supporting the brave survivors.
It has also come to our attention that there are worries that Rachel has known about Jimmy's abuses and ignored them, she would like to address this specifically:
From Rachel: "While on vacation 4 years ago I was approached by an individual from Minneapolis. They told me that Jimmy was shitty to them and I didn’t delve into it further than that. I called Jimmy and told him about this and asked him to deal with it. Sexual assault was not mentioned and if it had been, I would have handled the situation much differently, and with more severity. That will not happen again. I believe and stand with the survivors.”
We want to make sure it is clear that if people are comfortable coming forward to us with more information we are here to listen, learn, and move forward in a way that helps you heal. We are here to hold Jimmy accountable and to be accountable ourselves for the part we played.
Skorpiain, Niko, Travis, Rachel and Kishel"

ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..... i don't know if i believe the rachel bit. i'm curious to see what the victim has to say about that retelling of it

That “on vacation” mention feels sketchy. Dishonesty and irrelevant detail go hand in hand, and coupled with the numerous assertions that she was specifically aware, not really buying it

If I remember the insta post mentioned her being informed (by that one person) by text, so something isn’t adding up. The post is gone now (insta stories get deleted after 24hrs) so I cant check to see if that’s correct. Still... it doesn’t feel right. Even if this was the case, why not investigate further? Even if the words sexual assault weren’t used, shouldn’t the fact that someone approached them about his behavior be enough to warrant a more thorough investigation? Seems like a cop out answer.

I was wrong, never mentioned texts, but still shady

The part of the statement regarding Rachel is insultingly non-committal and dismissive
