The rhythmic density paired with sludgy hardcore that’s found here at times is pure Glassjaw

@Demon it varies for sure. When I listen to albums I generally have little else going on during the session, so distractions are limited/nonexistent. Especially when I plan on reviewing something, my attention is solely devoted to the music and trying to dissect it. So I guess it can occasionally take less listens for me personally because I do my best to absorb everything as it happens.

Goddddd that riff that starts and repeats a few times w 2 mins left in Futuras goes ridiculously hard in the paint

That's fair Mars, I can assure you that it wasn't meant as a criticism, the end result certainly doesn't suffer as far as I'm concerned.
The 2nd spin was more enjoyable in it's entirety, starting to really appreciate the craft on display here. The riffs are distinctly creative yet somehow vaguely recognisable, akin to adding a complementary ingredient to an already tasty dish. I know this is 56 minutes long, but I'm almost overwhelmed by how much actual content is here, artists often struggle to justify such a length, especially in a style that's generally on the 'high-tempo side' of the music spectrum.

Vacio is pretty epic, I haven't actually ben able to finish the album yet, I always start over when I come back to it and end up listening to the first 5 or so tracks.... Gotta sit with this at home without interruptions

Kinda reminds me of Noise Trail from last year. Was about 40 minutes long, but it felt like it was over in 20.

Is their other stuff like this? I'm also tempted to reevaluate my current stance on Glassjaw, as people keep mentioning the similarities.

The Glassjaw comparisons don't go any further than some of guitars here; very different aesthetics, tones and melodic sensibilities

Yeah, this is essentially an evolution of the sound they already possessed. So if you go backwards from here you will experience something similar, although not quite up to par like this is. Principia is a longer affair whereas Ataxico is all about speed.

Yeah their other stuff is rad as well, this is their prime work to date though. Previous is much shorter and debut is really good, a pity some melodics seemed to me a bit un-thoughtful and kinda thrown, with the vocal reaching off-key a bit too much (something they clearly handled to perfection on this one). In terms of the Glassjaw reference, I see the debut going there much more, though this band is way more mathy.

Lyrically I have no idea what's going on, but this shit is on point.

It's good stuff, just not as accessible for us English types.

I mean, it's not like At The Drive-In are much more comprehensible.

The triumvirate of Las Gorras Mayúsculas, Strathos & Futuras Campanas is legit one of the most impressive album sections I've honestly ever heard, the scope and ambition is incredible, yet it's pulled off with such aplomb and elegance.
Then the next two tracks, as well as the final two, both feel like they come as couplets. Lázaro/Pudre Infante works seamlessly, before leading into the final section of Señor Mora/Defenestra. It flows so well, I can't speak highly enough of how well this album is constructed and that's despite not knowing the first thing about the themes here.
I'm interested in knowing if there's a concept at play here, or at least what the general subject matter is. Google translate, here I come.
AOTY either way probably.

I'm curious about what the deal is with the Japanese references.
