it's not incredibly "similar" but heavily influenced by it, and the people who enjoy this have a high probability to enjoy mazzy star. could say the same about cocteau twins, maybe even slowdive and (to a lesser extent) the cranberries.
this doesn't sound like any of those bands but it's influenced by each of them to some degree.
