This is lovely. Didn't do a whole lot for me on first listen but I'm glad I came back.

First 4 tracks are so fucking perfect. Unfortunately it's loosing a little bit of steam after that.

Yeah, that’s about how I feel too Ed

More I listen to this the more overhyped it seems :/
|

[3] to the above opinion
|

yep first 4 are pretty great, everything else is pretty disposable (yes even movies)
|
| |
Movies isn't quite what it builds to be :[
End of the day, I'd like to keep this on rotation but I get a better version of the same fix from Actor, Tales of Us or Sunshower

damn, if Everyday isn't one of the best songs of the year already
so catchy...someone might have said this already but it reminds me a little of something the Beatles might have written circa Sgt Pepper? Or is that just my wack ass opinion?

Yeah this is very late 60s/70s, I’m kinda surprised something so blatantly retro is getting all this acclaim but I ain’t complaining.

Nick Butler emeritus has a great remark on the Beatles influence:
"Arguably most unusual of all is the Beatles influences here. You'd think being influenced by the biggest band of all time would barely be worth commenting on, but it's only after thinking on Titanic Rising for a while that you realize how weird it is to hear somebody treat The Beatles like they're Just Some Band. Pretty much every other artist I've heard reference them this openly has either taken the Oasis route of treating them as unimpeachable gods to be revered, or the Frank Zappa/Residents route of treating them as sacred cows to be mocked and massacred. Weyes Blood doesn't acknowledge their status either way. They're just another influence, no better or worse, no more or less important than any other, and she lifts from them, warps their ideas, or dismisses parts of their sound without ever sounding encumbered by the weight of their history and reputation. That shouldn't be unusual, but it is, and it means that she's done more here to actually advance their legacy and their ideas than anybody since....Christ, Radiohead in the '90s, maybe? "

^ that is the least unusual thing ever imo
90% of bands who display just as big a Beatles influence do it subtly/as just another influence :/

Is this postmodern cuz I think it is but I also think it's trying to escape it if that makes sense. It probably doesnt

I sound like a broken record, but it's the BEACH BOYS influence on Everyday. If it were a Beatles influence, it is only a secondhand influence.

Beatles are just budget Beach Boys anyway agreed

That's the best comment you've ever made on this site my friend
