I was very thorough going through fountainhead, followed the pathing it more or less has set up and soaked it all in. The pot merchant isn't hard to get to if you look around. Also how awesome is the swimming in that level? When I dove down for the first time I couldn't believe how much there was to see.

The mask comes together on its own once you have all 3 pieces. I think the third and final piece is sold by the pot merchant in fountainhead for 7 fish scales.

Fountainhead in general is an incredible area. I guess I was so focused on doing so much stuff I didn't search it as well as other areas.

Alright basically just wrapped up all my endgame, figured out I missed my chance for the Snake Hearts ending and also missed my chance for another ending which has the only two remaining prayer beads I need, so I can't fully upgrade my health until playthru 2. I am on track for the standard dumbshit missed out on the true endings ending, just gotta beat big ol' secret boss and then finally head out to what I presume is the final boss encounter. It's been a wild ride.

Okay my buddy and I both defeated the flaming bull only at Ashina Castle he went left and I went straight, and we’re at two completely different areas. Is one of us doing something wrong or is it just alternate routes?

And btw fighting those ninja fucks on the rooftops of Ashina is probably the most difficult part of the game for me thus far. Like they’re just fucking relentless. I was fighting three of them at once and made it in the castle by the skin of my fuckin teeth

There's a ton of alternate routes, but Ashina Castle is focus to begin with. The rooftop guys are tricky, but you've got a lot more in store...

If you're going for story, the castle is the "right" path and it doesn't make sense with the pacing and narrstive to go anywhere else.

But if you go down the other paths there's shit you can only find if you don't finish the castle first.

I'd like to say it doesn't matter but I think the item you get from a specific area before finishing the castle is extremely relevant to getting the "true" ending.

Divine Dragon is definitely one of the better spectacle fights From have done, way better than Yhorm and pretty close to what the Dragon God might have been. Am not sure about the Painted Monkey boss though - that invisible monkey was almost worse than Micolash

Yeah Folding Screen Monkey boss was a puzzle boss done right.

Necro: always be close to him. Learn his moves and constantly be by him. When he runs away, run to him fast. Be wary of his charge attack and jump-dodge it to the left when he does it, you'll avoid it every time. Watch out for his 4-hit combo of close swipes and leg stomps, they'll become the most dangerous attack at close range and he'll rely on them a lot. When he jumps high up, run away while locked on but don't go too far, when he lands you're gonna wanna jump and grapple to him for some free damage. In phase 2 he has that missile attack, just keep running at 10 o clock and close the distance to him. If you keep running, you'll never get hit by these and they're a great way to close the distance between you two and get some free hits at the end of his attack animation. Third phase is basically the same, with that ring of fire attack he does. If you get caught in it it's not the end of the world tho just play cautiously. When he does his charge move he might do a second charge immediately afterwards, just wait and dodge accordingly.
