It's ok though Doof you had the right idea just the wrong show. There's definitely a percentage of my pie that is cheesy romantic faux-indie. Perhaps Garden State-core?

Garden State-core it is. I can hear a Shins revival firing up as we speak...

I showed a friend of mine who hates indie this album and he said it was like "if Neutral Milk Hotel and Mumford & Sons fucked"

that would be a 2 out of 5 rating though

He said he'd probably give it a 3 out of 10 if he had to rate it, lol.

I usually dislike the wave of singer-songwriter acts that all the indie-heads are glomming onto these days, but this one sticks out to me. It’s not my favorite thing but I was surprised that I didn’t hate it.

As much as I like this I'm not at all compelled to spin it again. I'm not sure how well this will hold up with time.

Would You Rather is a jam, but none of what made that work is in this album.

This is no Stranger in the Alps but the best tracks are fantastic - "Dylan Thomas," "Chesapeake," and "Big Black Heart" are the highlights methinks

Dylan holy shit my three faves
"Chesapeake" is the first one on me to grow to Stranger-levels, if this follows Stranger in the Alps than many more will follow

It’s certainly an interesting career trajectory for Bridgers that within a year and a half of releasing her debut she’s already been involved in two major collaboration projects that not only both produced substantial releases but also went/are going on major tours. She already feels like a fixture of the scene. Hard to say whether this will prove to be good or bad for her career in the long run.

An Amish grandmother wouldn't even churn butter to this. A nun in vow of silence would break oath just to mutter "boring". A recently supplied crack house could be put to sleep by playing "Forest Lawn". A soundscape album of paint drying would evoke more emotion than the opening acoustic strums. Heard of mosh pits? This album creates a violent encircling of "Zzzz". I like it.

I say good Boney
That being said the hype/pressure for her next solo release could prove to be overwhelming. Not sure anything she releases could be up to my expectations and it's not even being made yet

I don't think the music is strong enough to warrant anything over a 3 (in my books)
Lyrics are good but it's not the staying power I generally look for in music
That said I would understand people enjoying this if it's their kind of thing
