I'll admit. I have tried to like Emery for years and this album for whatever reason immediately clicked in a way that none of their previous work ever has for me

"I'll admit. I have tried to like Emery for years and this album for whatever reason immediately clicked in a way that none of their previous work ever has for me"
I had the exact opposite. I have been listening to them for years and this is sitting down close to my lowest rated Emery as of now. I do want to try it again tho.

This has easily surpassed all of my other 5s from this year. Album of the year over Hopesfall, Coheed, and Rolo Tomassi

Shocked this album is getting so much love, but I’m glad. I love this album despite it’s faults. Not a 5 for me however.

in coheeds (and your own) defense, I really dug some tracks off of it. Especially the opening was killer.

Holy shit this is good. Going to give it a few more listens before rating but I'm really impressed so far.
I was expecting a bunch of generic screamo for some reason. Listened to these guys back when I was still in high school. Nonetheless I'm pleasantly surprised.

The first half of this record is god-tier. A bit more pedestrian as it progresses, but still a really great release.

"this album for whatever reason immediately clicked in a way that none of their previous work ever has for me"
this is exactly how I feel. I've always kinda liked them but never loved them until now

no Emery album has fully clicked with me immediately, except maybe In Shallow Seas. It took me years to realize how much I loved The Question. This didn't 'click' initially, but I knew there was something special I couldn't put my finger on.

Yes, they are musical Gods. Basically the post-hardcore equivalent of Justin Timberlake during his futuresex/lovesounds era.
