Agreed on Hereditary. I don't understand all the hate that film seems to get. One of the most original and well executed horror films I've seen in recent years.
This new Halloween film was enjoyable enough. It had it's silly and cringe worthy moments, sure. But I liked the build up and atmosphere in a lot of scenes.

Hereditary was phenomenal and one of the most unsettlingly creepy movies I’ve seen in a while.

re: A Quiet Place, I enjoyed it but definitely feel it was over-hyped or overrated to me, I've got it at a perfectly fine 3/5 on Letterboxd. The concept was fun and the execution unique but it just felt like it was lacking something to put it over the top.
And yeah I agree The Witch is the best film being talked about here besides the original Halloween (though I haven't seen the new one yet, will on Thursday). The Witch blew me away, I've seen A LOT of horror films over my years and it's been years since a film unnerved me that much, I was literally 2 feet from the screen with my mouth wide open by the finale. Something about witches, puritans, the forest, the unknowns of the New World...it just checked all of my creep-factor boxes off.

A Quiet Place was very average. The recycled Cloverfield monster was very distracting, and it wasn't nearly as scary or suspenseful as I'd hoped. They ruin the mystery of the monsters in the first 5 minutes

The Witch is probably the only horror movie in existence I would give a 9/10 or higher
|

damn, there's so many good horror films I'd give 9/10 (The Witch included): Rosemary's Baby, Psycho, Suspiria, The Birds, Night of the Living Dead, Let the Right One In, Alien, just to name some

@cold - I loved all of it except for the ending which was wayyyy too sappy and cheesy for me.

I loved this score and this movie.

I binged the first four episodes last night and am hooked, but the atmosphere of the pitch black dark in a big house with my headphones on and being stoned definitely helped, I fucking loved what I saw so far, literally waiting for it to get dark outside to do the same thing again tonight.

Yea I just finished episode 6 of that show and it's been pretty good so far.

"Original is my fav horror movie ever idk maybe you guys just take everything super seriously. Like a fucking slasher movie is supposed to have an in depth plot or some shit like that lol."
Fucking preach, sister.
I enjoyed the movie, it has fun gore, a cool villain and even the cinematography is pretty good. Why does people expect anything different from movies like this? That's what fucking bothers me.
