People that keep saying lyrics are important are one of the reasons why I mostly listen to music with no lyrics at the moment. No one discussing that kind of music can say "but the lyrics lol" or something. It's cool tho, I prefer it this way.

Stars of the Lid worst lyrics of all time agreed.

Lyrics make me wish I could go back in time and kick Franz Schubert in the balls.

It's not too late.

Maybe it isn't, let me check...
... Damn bastard died already, it's too late.

I really, really like this. The vocal melodies might need some more time to grow on me but the music is sublime.

gotta be honest, this bored the hell out of me. I might retry it but I can't think of anything worth returning to atm
|

there's a subtle beauty to this
I found it boring too but I also want to say to the album, "it's not you, it's me"
I think with more time I'll better digest the intricacies here

It’s really funny how some people find this to be pretentious when it’s one of the least pretentious things he’s ever done. You’ve heard absolutely nothing of pretense until you’ve heard Kayo Dot.

Hitting it with a solid 4 for now and I'll see where it goes from there. Could dip either way.

Yeah haha maudlin of the Well were ludicrously (loveably) pretentious tbh and the first three Kayo albums were a lot too. I haven't had much time to get into this, but it left a pretty sound first impression - Scaffold of Digital Snow is hella pretty

Two listens in and the album hasn’t grabbed me like the latest KD records or even Madonnawhore. Maybe that will change on further listening which I’ll resume, because like most albums he’s been involved in, it has at least one track that keeps you coming back; Smoke-Scented Mycelium, now we’re talking. That’s the Toby Driver I’ve come to know, creating otherwordly atmospheres which are taking you places.
