there's no way this will be beggars-tier. no one will ever put this album on their favorites list, but it does contain bangers. i wrote this before, but if tbeitbn and this were released as EPs with the 5 best songs each people would still rate this band as highly as they used to. for me, most of the garbage is dustin's fault. either lyrically/thematically, with bad choruses or making songs sound like his solo project. he's putting himself in the spotlight a lot or maybe they choose to, what do i know. imagine they went back to a heavier experimental sound with cory brandan on vocals, i'd dig that shit. i'd never think of questioning dustin before this album, but he appears as the weakest link.

Ehh im comfortable with them being 'soft' i mean theyve been an alt rock band twice as long as they were a post hardcore one and they made some of their greatest works in the last decade or so. I just want them to be a little creative, push themselves.

This was pretty lame, mostly listless. Beyond the Pines was good, I guess.

i really don't either, i was just thinking of vocalists to fill his spot. he seems like such a conservative, mainstream guy though, i don't think he cares for the experimentation at all.

Hes a huge Radiohead fan and cites Kid A as one of his biggest influences especially on The Alchemy Indexes so i dont know. I think theyre just too comfortable with their newfound mainstream popularity to take any big risks. TBEITBN really brought them to a new level popularity wise. Black Honey has something like 20 million views on youtube

Blows my mind a few call this album safe or think that they didn't take risks. To me this is the most expiremental album since Alchemy Index.

There's a freaking harp in Blood on Blood and the album opens with synth lines haha.

This band hasn’t been good since Vheissu....although Fire/Water was a decent album. They completely ditched their awesome post-hardcore vibes for some Dear Hunter art/folk hard rock b.s.

To each their own, I preferred Air/Wind and think their pre-Vheissu work is by far their worst.

Some of you are disrespecting them as both people and musicians. This is Thrice.

Agreed hard, except Vheissu isn't that good either.

Fire and Water are actually pretty damn good tho. Some good stuff on Air as well, and at least 1 or 2 good songs on Earth

They are disrespecting me as a listener, Storm. Just kidding, but honestly this is just too plain for me. Dustin doesn’t even sound great most of the time and some of the lyrics are lame. It’s funny because it feels like they were trying to experiment here but it doesn’t seem like they could quite commit to much. Sure the synth line is pretty different for them and I heard some new instruments here and there but they didn’t feel well executed imo. All this stuff and nothing jumps out.

I love To Be Everywhere..., however, I couldn't get into any of their previous albums. I listened to most of their stuff at least once and only Major/Minor stood out more for me. Which album should I insist on?

This ain't bad after a first listen. I have to let it sink a bit.

Honestly, you'd probably mostly dig, Beggars, M/m, TBE, and this if you liked the last one most. Maybe try Alchemy Index, but everything before it has a way more heavy vibe to it.

Ok, so I'll go backwards through their discography. I don't mind heavy, but probably the more melodic stuff of their latest LPs were easier to get into. Thanks!
