They do sound sort of similar to Brand New but they have a lighter tone. They remind me of Thrice more than Brand New for some reason.

I had no idea this band was so small/underground.

Seems pretty run-of-the-mill....

This is preliminary opinion still.
But, if this was the tracklist -
01. The Canyon
02. Bask
03. Thurisaz
04. Birdless Cage
05. Mitama
06. Dialogues
07. Northern Orthodox
08. Amaterasu
09. Colored Out
10. Worry If You Want (Yume)
You might have that classic album you're all talking about. Maybe.

I don't think it's run of the mill at all but everyone has their own taste.
letsgofishing- if I had to narrow the list to 10 and include bonus tracks, it would be identical to your list. Nice selections and ordering!

Hmm, just listened to that band for the first time today coincidentally. Their self titled. Thought it was boring as hell.

Foreword is probably the best thing they’ve done. Pneuma is pretty great too

Sundials is the theme song for a heady sitcom about an existential crisis and you know it.

The Canyon grabbed me hard. I was walking home checking this out and finished Dialogues before I came in so I have a few tracks left, but wow this was insanely good so far. It sounds like a combination of both TDAG and Daisy

This was a pretty high 4 on first listen

I haven't listened to this band yet, but this album sounds quite good on the first try. That said, would you recommend starting with Varuna and/or their EPs? If this is their best material yet, I'm thinking it could be hard to get into their earlier stuff afterwards.

I think their works show organic growth. I started with the His Old Branches EP. You can't really go wrong where you start; just put a slightly lower prioritization on No Matter How Narrow, which is a softer/poppier outing.

Alright, I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for the info!

Never heard about this band before... But this record is incredible! it's like a mix between Thrice and Brand New... I can see why it's been scoring so high, everything is on point, from vocals to instruments, the band shows no laziness even during short passages.
Reviews is great, thanks for helping discover such great artists Sowing.

Just want everyone currently going "huh, lemme check out the rest of this band now" to not have Sowing completely dissuade you from listening to No Matter How Narrow. The songwriting and lyricism there is still top fucking class despite the more accessible direction.
anyway, gonna give this my first spin later today, super hyped
