The choruses add well-needed dynamic though, I don't get it tbh. With some exceptions I've noticed that I prefer metalcore with a LOT of emo-tinged clean vocals over any other form of metalcore.

Tho in all fairness, the vocals here I wouldn't call emo necessarily, if they were closer to Silent Planet cleans then maybe sorta.

The choruses pretty much take away the intensity of the songs. I dont need a soaring clean vocal spot to add to the dynamic of the song. The instrumentation is enough already. A song like Casually would be sooo much better without cleans imo. And the cleans sound pretty much like every other Risecore band.

Like damn most of the songs start off strong for me and then as soon as they start singing I just lose interest and then next thing I know the song is over and I was only engaged in like half of it.

I just can’t stand the choruses.

Damn that’s one of the main strengths of this album imo. That chorus on The Remedy god damnnnnn.

I like the chorus of The ReMENdy but the one of Lucid is better

"The choruses pretty much take away the intensity of the songs."

A lot of albums that are consistently intense have a tendency to sound samey to me, so there's that.

"the cleans sound pretty much like every other Risecore band."

Except less emotionally charged, yeah.

Album rules hard anyway.

Sorry, I know it's probably sacred territory to use this as an example, but after a while the songs on None So Vile started really blending in hard for me and sounding the same. "Phobophile" was the real saving grace there.

At least I gave it some respect with my rating due to how iconic it is. If it wasn't as iconic I probably would've kept it at a 3.5 instead of upping it to a 4.

@Hawks: I'm just going off what my ears picked up from the album. Maybe my ears just missed all the intense stylistic variations and pace changes it apparently had.

And that main riff is catchy as hell. Have to say though, Consume is still my fav song off this and is my fav song of 2017.
