new one has some flashes of R&R's melodic heights and intensity on it, and it's better for it (the last two tracks in particular rule). idk why it's so hard for ABR to vary their tempos and dynamics after doing it so well on R&R -- I know the melodic components, the faster/more technical components and the heavy/breakdown components are all disparate but when they consciously bring them together, it's better than the sum of their parts.

Guardians is a lot better than this. I hate his cleans but the guitar work is stellar, and Jake's harsh vocals have always been the shit. From Dismembered Memory to the end it's super solid, first half is very lackluster and Lighthouse is just trash lol
