The albums I found most satisfyingly expanded on this Blue sound were Hejira and The Hissing of Summer Lawns

Iiiii don't think so. Gonna take a look around it though, bluuuuee-hoo-hoo-hooo! This album is stacked with amazing songs front to back, though.

The Hissing of Summer Lawns is the closest to this for me. In terms of quality that is, not style.

Yeah, would like to listen to sth that is the closest thing to this in terms of quality. Don't care much about the style tbh.

Ten listens now and this has risen to a top 10 album for me, really surprised

Wow Doof top 10!? I mean this is certainly amazing but I wouldn't have pinned that you would rate it that high.

I guess you've recovered from your musical sexism now, eh? Mitchell's vocals certainly are sublime here.

Neither would I but six of the songs here are perfect, 5/5 I can't fault them, and only two dip to merely 'good'

For someone who's come here via Joanna Newsom who is great but never went to that next level for me, this is such a refreshing, crystalline listen.

There's a lot of action/competition in my top 10 right now, Fare Forward Voyagers is knocking on the door too. Forever Changes is threatening to break its way in there and 'I could live in Hope' is growing on me as well

Boxer and Sunhouse might both drop out soon

There are only three albums I don't think will ever drop out of my top 10 - 'Infected', 'Ok Computer' and 'Kaputt'

Game on with all the other spots

Boxer and Sunhouse had better stay!!

Jk though, that's great you're discovering so much great stuff. Not since Sunhouse have I discovered any top 10 level albums, I did find three 5s last year in I See A Darkness, Loveless, and The Mekons' Fear and Whiskey but none of those are top 10

Forever Changes I need to get into one of these days, I Could Live in Hope I plan to listen soon (possibly today in fact), hopefully I love that one. Fare Forward Voyagers I've heard one track before, I need to investigate more American Primitivism, I feel there must be a 5 for me somewhere in the genre.

Obvious to state it but Fare Forward is a grower and a half

Low was my intended rec so if you do give it a go then feel free to throw something my way to check

Actually 'Is a Woman' will never drop out of my top 10 either as I don't think Lambchop could ever beat it and I would always want some Lambchop in there. Perfect album.

Is a Woman is setting some serious hooks in me right now, I can feel the 5 there but it may take a while to get there.

The title track here is another great one, California I'm less keen on in fact it might be my least favorite here.

California is a bit different to the others but I think it's great, you listen to more female country songs though. Actually River is better than that one too, so at least six perfect songs

This Flight Tonight is my least favourite but I still quite enjoy it and it certainly doesn't upset the flow

California's not bad by any means certainly. This Flight Tonight is one of the weaker ones for me too.
