This is the opposite of sterile for me, goes for intimacy above most all other qualities I'd have said :/

Chorus on John Wayne is pure nicotine

Doof I won't deny that there's intimacy in the writing and atmosphere but something about the production and playing is just a bit too clean. The guy's singing isn't very expressive either, he holds himself really closely to the melodies most of the time. There's almost a 1980s adult contemporary vibe to some of this.
Basically this album has the feel of a bedroom pop album but it's been given a full studio production and that doesn't always work to its favor.
I don't mean to badmouth it too much though, I like this a lot.

agree with Boney, there are clear limitations to the aesthetic here that cap the album at a 4. i'd say it's both sterile and intimate and those descriptors aren't necessarily in contradiction

it's like taking a thorough shower to get squeaky-clean for sex and not even building up a sweat during the event. this album has zero sweat glands and would do better to let go of its germophobia

It's quite a task to be intimate and blunt at the same time
But this def pulls of the trick for me, the aesteics of this album is what makes it such a coherent listen for me, although I can understand some finding it a little bit samey
Also check out their ep1 it's got some awesome tracks !

Just the tip.
Haven't listened to the thing in full yet and have tried not to overplay the singles.

Flash is actually my least favourite on here

'John Wayne', 'Sunset' and 'Sweet' are my three weakest here but they're all still 4/5 sorta quality

Big on all those Doof!
I'll try and give my approximate ranking, I've really overplayed this record to death over summer:
Apocalypse
K.
John Wayne
Sunsetz
Truly
Sweet
Young and Dumb
Opera House
Each Time You Fall in Love
Flash
That was actually really difficult to do. Going to see these dudes play in Roma later this year, hope it's worth it

Yeah, that was tough, Sweet is a great song too. My most overplayed album of 2017, was trying to give it a break but it's sneaked back into rotation this last week.
Would love to see this album performed live, ideally at the Roadhouse in Twin Peaks

I assume they'll more or less play the entire thing, they don't have much other material to draw from for a headlining show. I just hope Italians stfu and give their music the quiet it needs to breathe. I saw Slowdive over here a few months back and it was horrendous for people talking over the music.

That's the deal most everywhere now, people go to gigs to post updates on their phones and chat to their mates. Lucky if you avoid being stood behind someone recording the entire show on an iPhone.
Even at a very noisy Deerhunter show the chatter between songs was almost as equally loud as the band :/

First listen done, in a sense i feel like i heard the same song about 10 times lol but i definitely liked it enough to see it growing on me upon further listens.

I didn't expect to like this very much after the first listen, but the songs actually have a surprising amount of subtleties and distinctions that don't reveal themselves until repeated playthroughs. Grower of the year.

Really getting into that EP too - I'm a Firefighter is a modern slowcore classic
