I hate when bands/artists downplay their previous records. Ben recently said that he wishes he could rerecord the vocals on this album, I honestly think his vocals sound better here than anything afterwards, less monotone too. This is his best vocal performance.

I would agree 100%, he sounds absolutely insane on this one

I think it had more to do with him cupping the mic and that changing his voice in a way he doesn't like than him wanting to take a totally different approach to how he did this album. At least that's how it came across to me in the interview. This is definitely his best work but I can hear what he's talking about when comparing it to how much cleaner his lows sound on Melancholy.

I think 1 hour is fine for shadow of intent. The only song on this lp i think kinda sucks is Effigy and even then it works in an album context. Best shadow is this one imo

Ah, Reclaimer. The Heretic Prevails was my gateway to SoI and deathcore as a whole (not that I hadn't heard anything before, but all deathcore I came across before this mighty sucked).

Been revisiting this a lot lately because I thought maybe I was just outgrowing the band in general. But nah, this is still sooooo fucking good. Absolutely bodies their last couple, and I still think this sits comfortably above Melancholy despite how good that is. Chris had a style going here that he basically abandoned on following releases, and it's just way more to my taste. This was also their best use of symphonic elements by far. I know they had a collaborator that wrote a lot of that stuff for their first two and I'm not sure they kept her around after.

Mausoleum of Liars outro is the peak of peak.
