Right? It's that kinda dissonant, catchy riff at the later half of Torrentially Cutshaw that jumps out of the whole album!

There are plenty of good riffs, but all in all it's fairly forgettable. Not a lot of standout tracks, no awful ones either. Still hope it grows on me.

Completely different records and bands but at least this is kinda interesting and something you can fuck with. Slowdive's new record is such a snooooze fest man apart from like 2 or 3 tracks.

I miss the days when these guys had distinctive songs. In/Casino/Out, RoC and most of the Mars Volta records had a lot of variation in tempo, texture and dynamics. This album and Antemasque have none of that whatsoever - both albums just feel like one song on repeat. Even the mellowest song on this is kind of loud and mid tempo. The dual guitars on this are more interesting but the vox are even less catchy and memorable. I really hope the next Antemasque record has more variation than either of these since I can't tell these songs apart for the life of me. I agree with the review - the spirit is missing.

yeah. they claimed that the album was meant to pretend that the past 17 years hadn't occurred and they were just picking up where they left off, but a certain something something isn't there. even if all the technical boxes are checked off, sometimes the magic can't resurface.

I haven't listened to ATD-I in years until this album. I'm really enjoying it more than most here. Musically it's great, I don't focus on lyrics and vocals much but I can see how that would turn people off.

For a second, I thought you were talking out of all the albums on Metacritic, this is the second worst ever.
